On Getting Older

You just know you are getting older when a very small child in the supermarket runs towards you shouting in a very loud voice..."Gwanma, gwanma!"

ME: "Small child, I believe you have mistaken me for someone else".

Right then, I'm just off to touch up my roots.

      He was only tiny and very cute but I'm hoping his grandma is very young and glam!!

    I think I would have looked over my shoulder and then stepped to one side, as she obviously couldn't have been talking to you :)

    I have had it twice where a child has coming running up behind me, "mummy mummy, can I have this", hanging off my leg. And when they realise you aren't their mum they blink up at you and you can see pure fear and they aren't sure if to cry or not.

      So funny Sol. I wouldn't have minded so much if it had been "mummy". I am old enough (just!) but I didn't think I looked like a small child's grandma - eek!

    I think the child was a Roma gipsy. In their language, "gwanma" means "lovely lady" or sometimes "lady of the night".

    Very funny, YP. The small squawky child was very blond and fair skinned I do hope it means "lovely lady" because I did smile at him before I legged it.
