After all the hoo ha and angry bellowing from the shallow end of the gene pool in Glasgow the other night, I read about something wonderful that happened the next day. Apparently a spontaneous outburst of generosity occurred during a peace rally in George Square. Peace campaigners were talking about a food bank that they ran and soon after, bags of food started arriving, donated by passers by. By the end of Saturday there were hundreds of bags of food and on Sunday there were even more. The generosity of Glasgow people never fails to amaze me. This is the Glasgow that I know and love and the people, whose sarcasm could cut you to the quick and leave you lying in a quivering heap, but whose hearts are made of pure gold.

Oh Carole how lovely that they have done that. I have been waiting for more back lash. There were quite a few blogs that I follow who said in their posts, if it was a NO vote would leave Scotland and live somewhere else. I haven't seen them saying that they will do this yet. But it will be a crying shame if people who obviously love their country up and leave. I believe we are in for tense times.
ReplyDeleteHi Sol. I always think something good comes out of something bad and I think the thugs were shipped in to deliberately cause trouble. Emotions have been running very high but I don't think there will be a mass exodus from Scotland. My mother said she would move down to our village if it was a YES vote...phew! (ha ha, only joking, Moother).
DeleteHope you are not too stressed with house move etc.
Carol
Sounds like some sort of balance has reasserted itself. Important to have a visible buffer of goodness after the angst.
ReplyDeleteI agree CT. It's lovely to see something positive come out of it.
DeleteHuman beings can be so kind and yet we seem to get a bad press. Where ever there has been industry and poverty, there is also a lot of charity. But shhhh! We wouldn't want to shout that too loudly would we as it is not bad news.
ReplyDeleteSo true YP. The media nitwits seem to like to feed us a diet of doom and gloom and fear.
