Yes or No? Do we Really Care?

...and tell our enemies that they may take our lives
but they will never take our FREEEEEEDOM!!

I happened to be earwigging overhear a conversation in our local Morrison's supermarket the other day.  The lady at the checkout had asked an elderly Scottish gentleman what he thought about Scottish Independence.  Big mistake!  Huge mistake!  The old b****d went off on one, complaining that he didn't get to vote because he lived in England and he had written to our local MP, David Davis, to ask him to do something about it.  The poor wee checkout lady looked a bit flummoxed by his outburst.  It transpired (I was still earwigging at this point) that this elderly Scottish gentleman was in his 70s and had lived in East Yorkshire since 1965.....almost 50 years.  I'll just leave that one with you.

The UK Government, in its wisdom, decided on a last ditch appeal to the "YES" voters.  What do you think they did?  Well, of course, they sent in the clowns, in the shape of Cameron, Cleggy and Miliband.  How to get the whole Scottish nation to vote YES in one easy lesson. F***wits!  Sorry, I have to swear sometimes.

When people hear my Scottish accent, they sometimes ask me what I think about Scottish Independence and I say to them "Quite frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."  Not my circus, not my monkeys (old Polish saying). I have lived in East Yorkshire for over 20 years and have been very happy here. I don't think I would want to move back to Scotland just because of the climate alone.  'Tis always very cold and wet in Glasgow.   I have never been into the Scottish-ness thing (I only know the first verse of Flower of Scotland - oh, shock horror!) and I hate all the "we hate the English" rabble of Scottish nationalists who have probably never been outside of Scotland, apart from their yearly holiday to Benidorm with a plane load of...well, other Scottish people.  In all the years I have lived in England, I have never ever come across any Scottish-hating English people.

So, we shall see what happens after the vote next week.  I suspect that if it is a YES vote, the conversation will go something like this:-

ALEX SALMOND: "Oh Shit, Nicola.  What the fluff do we do now?"

  1. You made me laugh :) But i hope we all stay together and that all the politicians put as much effort into making the country a good place for everyone to live in, as they have trying to create a wedge between us. Fat chance, methinks.

    1. Hi Jean. I honestly think that Alex Salmond will wet his pants if it is a YES vote, especially when the money from Westminster stops flowing in.

  2. Hello! I have found you through the lovely Jean. I am bored to tears with the whole debate and just wish it would be done and dusted. Can't abide folks being nasty to one another simply because of which bit of the country they live in. ps- I like your label of 'nitwits'. Excellent! CT :-)

    1. Hi CT. Thanks for dropping in. I am the same and I don't watch the news much any more because I am bored with the lot of them. "Nitwits" is my favourite F word at the moment - ha ha!! I'll pop over and see you soon.

      Best wishes from Carol

  3. Is Nicola Sturgeon a fish? If I squeezed her hard enough would caviar come out of her mush? As for Alistair Darling darling, he was surely a very bad choice to lead the "No" campaign. About as inspirational as a a slice of white pudding in an Oban B&B. Cameron and the other Westminster careerists have left it far too long and besides it shouldn't all be about "the economy". It should be more about brotherhood and sisterhood, our mutual history and this lovely island we happen to share.

    1. Glad to see you back YP. Nicola Sturgeon is Alex Salmond's scary deputy. Alistair Darling's black eyebrows always bothered me. They are all F****wits and I am fed up with all of it. I just wish the minority of Scottish nitwits who hate the English realised how much the English love Scotland. It's all crapola YP and I'm off on my hols soon so I don't care. Don't want to put the date I leave in case the bloggy burglars are reading. Glad you had a good holiday with your family.

    2. Just wanted to ask you YP. How do you get your photos as big as they are on your blog? Maybe I need to change the bloggy format.

Do you use the "Insert Image" icon when making a blogpost? It is next to "Link" and it allows you to bring in photos from your computer's store of pictures. When the photo is loaded into your post you can then choose between small, medium, large or Xlarge. I find that with portrait style pictures I can use XLarge to make my pictures bigger but this doesnt work with landscape style. I hope that helps.

    5. I wouldn't describe you as a Scottish groat Molly even though I myself have sometimes been likened to a billy groat.
